Parking

It's become normal to me but is it? Everyone has a ramp to push their
bike up over the few steps leading to the parking room, if they have
steps- and we do. Once inside the house, note that patio doors need to
be opened to get the bike(s) in and out, we park anywhere and put the
kickstand on a piece of cardboard to prevent scratching the tile. Why
not leave outside within the gate? Theft. How? Jump the gate, break
lock, steal bike. Easy.

National Day

It's kind of funny how it's pretty rate to see the flag on most other
days, but when it's national day it seems that everyone and every shop
puts out a flag. They usually stay out a couple of days and then come
down. We have on on our house as well. The owners came over the other
day and put it up. This photo was taken on our local commercial strip.

Intruders beware

We have a huge gate. Note the motorbike ramp just inside the courtyard
leading up to the entryway.

Rain cyclist

I love the rain coats here, made to fit over motorbikes and bicycles
alike.

Looks like another pillar is going up

Yup, Saigon is getting major facelift. It was a crowded village 10
years ago and now it's turning into a megapolis complete with mirrored
skyscrapers.

How to spot a foreigner

Foreigners like this guy might stand out a bit, but at least he's
riding properly. Note he's not hugging his driver but has his hands
are on his knees where they should be.

Starbucks who??

This is one of the gorgeous views from my new favorite coffee shop.
There are a couple nice pools like this. Seats about, oh say 350
people? Multiple level, mostly outdoor with indoor non-smoking
options. And some people, including me, said that'd be the day. Prices
are a little high for Saigon, and the only cafe in town without wifi,
but the lushness and style more than make up. Plush cushy chairs don't
hurt either.
